And after months of out-of-stock notifications, retailers have started to catch up to demand. Below, 10 of the best hand sanitizers you can buy online right now (some do have order quantity limitations), all of which adhere to the CDC’s guidelines to use an alcohol-based hand rub with more than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol, in order to effectively kill germs and bacteria.

We’ve included a range of sizes and scents, including sprays, gels, and kid-friendly options, many of which include ingredients meant to keep hands moisturized amid frequent washing and sanitizing, like aloe vera and witch hazel. For now, we’re bringing them with us on grocery runs and walks around the neighborhood, but they’re the same ones we’ll be tucking away in our suitcases and backpacks once we can begin to think about packing again.

I have never paid so much attention to hand sanitizer before. I mean I have always used it, but not to this extent. I keep some in my purse, in my car, in my pocket…I never know when I will have to touch those credit card machine buttons or a gas pump. Add in all the extra hand washing and I am always looking for moisturizing hand sanitizer. I think that BioSilk has really hit it out of the park with their Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer with Aloe Vera.

New Aloe Plant Web Banner

There are lots of benefits for skin that come from the aloe vera plant. It is one of the best anti-inflammatory ingredients and it is such a terrific antioxidant. Aloe vera has vitamins A and C, plus enzymes and the whole combination is amazing for dry skin.

Where I live, it seems almost impossible to get toilet paper and hand sanitizer, so it is such a relief to be able to get this excellent hand sanitizer option easily online. The BioSilk Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer smells fabulous – bright and citrusy. It kills all the germs, but at the same time the aloe vera plus glycerin seals in moisture so my hands stay soft and hydrated.

Another plus is that it comes in a variety of sizes. Get a gallon jug and refill your existing containers!  It’s a great way to make sure you never run out. It doesn’t help with the toilet paper situation but this is a terrific way to always be prepared and it’s one less thing to worry about.

You can find the BioSilk Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer online at www.biosilk.com.

People are printing it on T-shirts, posting memes, and making songs about those three little words: Wash. Your. Hands. But, sometimes it’s not always possible to get to a faucet and sing the Happy Birthday song (twice). So what’s the second best thing? Hand sanitizer, ofc. Sadly, my local CVS has been sold out of the little bottles of gel for months now.

But ya girl found some super cute on-the-go cleansers online, like this milk and honey purifier and these colorful no-wash disinfectants. They both have moisturizing ingredients that won’t leave your skin feeling dry as the Sahara desert, from lavender oil to aloe vera gel. And—the most important part—both contain 60 percent alcohol (a CDC recommendation) to help kill germs.

I’ve dropped links to both of those skin-soothing hand sanitizers below and included a ton of other options that are small enough to toss in your bag and keep things movin’.

Coronavirus Fighting Hand Sanitizers – Features CHI Natural Gardens

Although it has been weeks since the coronavirus was declared an official global pandemic by the World Health Organization, hand sanitizer is still hard to come by on store shelves. And with traditional hand sanitizer brands like Purell being resold online for exorbitant prices, Americans aren’t always sure where they can find the portable disinfectant for their brief outings.

That’s where non-health care-related brands are stepping in to level out the playing field. Distilleries, beauty brands and independent small businesses are manufacturing and selling hand sanitizer to address this crisis – and it can be shipped to your home for a reasonable price.

Best Hand Sanitizers to Clean Hands in a Pinch – Features CHI Natural Gardens

Best Hand Sanitizers to Clean Hands in a Pinch – Features CHI Natural Gardens

The best and most recommended way to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria is to wash your hands. But in instances where you might not be near a bathroom or just want extra protection, hand sanitizers are the next best thing (or best additional thing) — especially as we’re all trying to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

When it comes to hand sanitizer, there are two types of people: Some of us have kept a little bottle in our bag for a decade, while others only associate it with hospitals and doctors. Whichever camp you fall into, the bottom line is that we want to stay as healthy as possible. So we asked the experts to explain the ideal way to use hand sanitizer — along with their favorite recommendations.

CHI Natural Gardens Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer

CHI’s hand sanitizer comes in four sizes and houses naturally grown aloe vera, essential nutrients, and glycerin to seal in moisture long after it’s applied. And it’s 77 percent ethyl alcohol, which is well above the CDC’s recommended 60 percent.

Beauty Brands That Are Giving Back – Features CHI Natural Gardens Hand Sanitizer

With COVID-19 (coronavirus) putting a halt to everyday life for millions of people around the world, some beauty brands are taking action against the pandemic. As an increasing amount of retailers announced indefinite closures of their store locations in the US and beyond earlier this week, others are using this as an opportunity to give back.

A handful of our favorite brands, from Glossier to MAC, have redirected some of their focus to those directly affected by the disease, whether it be people who are unable to work and provide for themselves due to lockdown policies or healthcare workers who are currently on the frontlines of the crisis. Read ahead to see which beauty brands are providing charity for those affected by COVID-19, then head over here to find out how you can help.

CHI recently created an FDA-approved hand sanitizer that was launched on March 26. Shortly after, $1 million worth of the product was donated to the cities of Houston and Tomball, TX.

The Rise of the Hand Care Market? – Features Farouk Systems Inc.

Every business is feeling the impact of the COVID-19 crisis right now — but, according to analysts at Grand View Research, the effect on the beauty industry may not be as severe.

The research firm states, “Although discretionary spending has reduced, the Beauty and Personal Care market has witnessed a consumer behavioral shift towards safe and reliable products. Products that have a lower risk of contamination owing to automation and longer shelf lives helping the rationing of consumer supplies are expected to stand out in the near future.”

A Focus on Hand Care

One product category consumers are shifting toward is Hand Care. Now more than ever, hand care products have become a focus for consumers and brands. The coronavirus pandemic quickly caused a hand sanitizer shortage — but many beauty companies, such as Farouk Systems, quickly began manufacturing the product.

Shifting focus now, some beauty brands are beginning to launch moisturizing products for hands. Glossier just launched its Hand Cream, in a stylish package — and donated the first 10,000 units to healthcare workers.

Grand View Research published a market report last spring that forecasted the global Hand Care Market to expand at a CAGR of 4.5% from 2019 to 2025. The report states, “Initiatives taken by the WHO and FDA to make people aware about hand hygiene and harmful diseases associated with it are expected to support the market growth.”

Hand sanitizer stock, like that of kettlebells and toilet paper, has been pretty inconsistent since the pandemic hit. As stores quickly ran out of Purell, well-known luxury brands, like Aesop became the fallback for anyone who could afford the cost. Now, even the high-end fancy hand sanitizers are gone. These days, if you want hand sanitizer, you’ll likely have to get it from a boutique skincare retailer right as they launch, a distillery—because hand sanitizer is mostly alcohol—that’s shifted its production, or as a “free gift” for purchasing other items.

Hand-Sanitizer-Category-GIF CHI Haircare - Professional Hair Tools

It’s worth noting that hand sanitizer is not your only line of defense against the spread of the coronavirus. Much more important are socially distancing, wearing a mask outside, not touching your face, and washing your hands—often—for at least 20 seconds. But even the most studious hermit has to make occasional trips outside the house—or perhaps your job has been deemed essential, and you’re in the field, doing everything you can to protect yourself. When soap and a sink aren’t always available, that’s when a bottle of hand sanitizer fills the void.

If you need hand sanitizer now, here are the places we’ve found with stock at the time we published.

CHI’s moisturizing hand sanitizer is unavailable in its smallest size, but you can still get anything larger than a 5.7 oz. bottle.

CHI donated $1 Million of Hand Sanitizer and Now You Can Buy It Online

CHI donated $1 Million of Hand Sanitizer and Now You Can Buy It Online

At the outset of 2020, nobody would have bet on a hand sanitizer shortage. But with the global pandemic of COVID-19, people cleared shelves of sanitizer virtually everywhere. As the shortage impacted average citizens and health care professionals alike, many companies stepped up to make hand sanitizer. CHI and BioSilk are now among those companies doing their part to help out during this crisis.

Both companies are known for their hair care products, which means hand sanitizer isn’t their norm, but something they were able to work up quickly. After creating the CHI Natural Gardens Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer and BioSilk Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer with Soothing Aloe Vera, CHI donated $1 million worth of the sanitizer to the city of Houston.

“Currently, we are in the process of making millions and millions of bottles of high-quality hand sanitizers to bring to the market […] to help people in need right now,” said John Long, Farouk Systems, Inc. Director of Operations.

The FDA-approved product has higher levels of alcohol, with 77% Ethyl alcohol (antimicrobial), which will kill 99.99% of germs. The CDC recommends using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol to protect yourself from novel coronavirus, so this product fits the bill. Both hand sanitizers also contain natural aloe vera grown at CHI’s Natural Gardens. Aloe vera has soothing properties and essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, and the formula is designed to soothe and seal in moisture instead of drying your hands out like most sanitizers.

Best of all, these products are actually in stock online. After weeks of shortages at Amazon, Walmart, Target, and other retailers, you can buy some hand sanitizer online again.

You can get the CHI hand sanitizer directly on CHI’s website for between $5.74 and $34.23, depending on the size. The sanitizer is also available at Sally Beauty for $11.99 for an 11.5 oz. bottle. Don’t try to buy them out, as there’s a limit to four per order. The BioSilk hand sanitizer is available for $2.99 to $49.50, starting out at 2.2 oz. and it goes all the way up to a gallon.

In addition to donating $1 million worth of hand sanitizer, CHI — as in the hair-tool company — is manufacturing hand sanitizers for sale, formulated with aloe grown in the company’s natural gardens. In addition to staying home and wearing masks while outdoors, keeping your hands (extremely) clean is currently crucial. And while washing your hands with soap and water is ideal, it isn’t always possible. Which is where hand sanitizer comes in — hand sanitizers, that is, with at least 60 percent alcohol, per the CDC. But with hand sanitizer from the usual suspects scarce (bottles of Purell are being resold for hundreds of dollars on eBay and Craigslist), lots of unconventional brands have adjusted their production to meet demands.

Distilleries, for instance, have been using excess alcohol from production to make hand sanitizers, and beauty brands have followed suit. While some bigger corporations are making hand sanitizer exclusively for first responders and hospitals, others are making theirs available for purchase through their sites.

Best Hand Sanitizers Of 2020 According To Experts – Features CHI Natural Gardens Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer

Best Hand Sanitizers Of 2020 According To Experts – Features CHI Natural Gardens Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer

While hand washing with soap and water should be your go-to, hand sanitizer does work in a pinch. Let’s face it, sometimes you don’t have soap or a dependable sink sitch—and that’s where hand sanitizer sparkles. In those circumstances, hand sanitizers are a pretty solid backup plan, according to doctors and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

“Hand sanitizer is a good way to disinfect when you don’t have access to soap and water between hand washes,” confirms Dr. Andrew Alexis, MD, chair of Mount Sinai’s department of dermatology. Still, you’ve got to use the stuff correctly, check the expiration date, and make sure it contains the right ingredients. “Alcohol-based sanitizers with 60 percent alcohol or higher are best at killing many types of germs,” says Alexis. If your bottle contains any less than that, it may reduce growth of germs but not kill them. The CDC confirms a high alcohol content (also at least 60 percent) is required to kill germs.

Since many go-to hand sanitizer brands are in high demand and hard to come by right now, other companies have stepped in. Case in point: The American Craft Spirits Association says three in four of its distillery members are now producing alcohol for use as sanitizers, Bloomberg reported.

Whether it’s a traditional hand sanitizer brand or a new product, the first thing to look for is one of these three active ingredients on the label: ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, or benzalkonium chloride. “Other active ingredients may be ineffective,” says Alexis. Those ingredients all indicate that the formula contains alcohol, and as long as it hits that 60 percent mark, you’re covered.

Here are doctor-recommended picks and notable newcomers for the best hand sanitizers on shelves and online.
