DIY Iron-On Galentine’s Day Gift Bags

Galentine’s Day (officially marked February 13th by Leslie Knope on NBC’s Parks & Recreation) is a day to celebrate lady friends. As Knope so elegantly states in the show, “ladies celebrating ladies.” While it’s nice to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your SO, we all need a girls night every once in a while!

DIY Iron-On Galentine's Day Gift Bags

What better way to show your girls you love them than with homemade Galentine’s Day gift bags? And even better if they’re stuffed with their favorite treats – wine, chocolate, and candy to name a few.

DIY Iron-On Galentine's Day Gift Bags

We used Cricut Design Space to create text and Cupid-inspired images for the gift bags. But you could also use InDesign or Illustrator. For the love of lady friends, get creative.

DIY Iron-On Galentine's Day Gift Bags

Once your made-with-love fonts and phrases are crafted, print your designs onto transfer paper. You can purchase transfer paper at craft stores, office supply outlets, or online. We went with reds, pinks, and tons of glitter for our bags, but you could go the extra mile and personalize even further by using each friend’s favorite color.

DIY Iron-On Galentine's Day Gift Bags

When the transfer sheets are printed, grab your CHI iron. Make sure you follow the iron-on directions found on your transfer paper pack or individual sheets. They will vary by brand.

DIY Iron-On Galentine's Day Gift Bags

Apply pressure and hold the CHI iron downward on the transfer sheet and lettering on top of the bags. Once you have ironed for the specified time, let the iron-on cool. Carefully peel back the transfer paper and there you have it – customized gift bags for all your gal pals.

DIY Iron-On Galentine's Day Gift Bags

These customized Galentine’s Day gift bags are the perfect way to spread the love this February. Host a craft night with your ladies to make them together as a group or hand them out as party favors at your annual Galentine’s Day party. You could even toss in their favorite CHI haircare product like hairspray or volumizer (which happen match the bags perfectly) for the finishing touches on their Galentine’s Day or Valentine’s Day looks.

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

‘Tis the season to be tacky, fa-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la. Whether you’re going to an office holiday party or hosting a cookie exchange for your family and friends, tacky Christmas sweaters are welcome attire at all gatherings this time of year.

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

We’d guess you’re probably pretty busy this month. Between shopping for everyone on your Nice List and decking your home’s halls with boughs of holly, you probably don’t have time to knit a sweater. That’s why these tacky Christmas sweaters aren’t actually sweaters at all.

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

Take the shortcut and order plain crew neck sweatshirts online. We ordered festive colors like bright red to decorate for Christmas and royal blue to put a Hanukkah spin (dreidel, dreidel, dreidel) on tacky sweaters.

Instead of knitting or buying a custom sweater (they can get expensive), save some money and host a holiday craft night at your house. Spend the night making these festive iron-on sweatshirts with the help of your CHI iron and serve cookies and cocktails to make spirits even brighter.

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

We used Cricut Design Space to create our iron-on text and graphics, but you could use any photo or text editing program. We went the punny route when it came to creating our iron-ons, but the options are endless. String lights, Christmas trees, quotes from your favorite holiday movies – you’ll find a way to tacky it up.

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

Once the iron-ons are printed and cut to size, it’s time to iron. Directions vary by the type of transfer paper you purchase, but make sure you’ve turned your CHI iron’s heat ON and the steam OFF.

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

Once the iron is set to temperature, place the custom iron-on onto your sweatshirt and apply pressure as you set the iron down on top. As soon as you’ve pressed the iron-on for the time indicated on the packaging, remove the iron and let it cool. When the iron-on is cool to the touch, peel back the transfer paper.

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

Wear your sweatshirts as-is or go from tacky to tackier and use a hot glue gun or velcro to attach jingle bells, colorful pom-poms, or snowflakes for a 3D touch.

DIY Iron-On Tacky Christmas Sweaters

Run your CHI hairstyling iron through your hair, throw on your tacky Christmas sweatshirt and a pair festive earrings, and prepare to be “Best Dressed” at every party this holiday season.

Ready, Set (Your Holiday Table), Go!

Ready, Set (Your Holiday Table), Go!

So somehow, someway we’ve made it to the holiday season – and the end of 2017. Who knows where the year went, but you probably don’t have time to stop and think about it. There’s turkey to cook, family to gather, and tables to set.

EasySteam holiday table linens

Whether you’re one of those organized people who stores their table linens by holiday or one who tears apart the house looking for fall decor on Thanksgiving, your CHI® irons and EasySteam™ can transform your tablescape from wrinkled to wow.

EasySteam holiday table linens

If you want to give your table linens a quick refresh before setting the table, grab your EasySteam™ and de-wrinkle your napkins, table cloth, and table runner in minutes. The EasySteam™ is perfect for hectic holidays, when time and energy are at an all time low. And the best part? It’s completely hands-free, you so can take that last pie out of the oven or get yourself dressed while it works it’s magic.

EasySteam holiday table linens

Hang the EasySteam™ in a convenient location like the back of a door or closet, then fill the water reservoir located at the bottom of the bag. Hang one item (we chose a festive runner) from the built in hook inside the EasySteam™. Zip the bag, press the ON button, and walk away.

Depending on the size of your linens and the fabric, the time it takes to get the wrinkles out may vary. Once your table linens are finished, slowly open the bag and take them out. If your tablecloth has been tightly folded and stored in the attic for the past year, a quick press of the CHI iron will quickly remove the stubborn, set-in creases. Need to touch up your outfit as well? Swap out the runner for your blouse and refresh both your look and your table before family arrives. When you’re finished, simply collapse the bag for easy storage.

EasySteam holiday table linens

This multi-purpose, hands-free steamer is sure to become a must-have in your home – especially around the holidays. From steaming table linens before meals, to de-wrinkling your holiday cocktail party and NYE looks, you’ll be thankful you had EasySteam™ on hand.

Sneak Peek: A Steamer Unlike Any Other

Sneak Peek: A Steamer Unlike Any Other

This fall, CHI® is bringing you a brand new way to keep your clothes smooth and fresh with the hands-free Easy Steam™.

Yes, we said hands-free.

CHI® EasySteam

Instead of typical steamers that require you to hold them in one hand while you use the other to search your clothes over for wrinkles, the Easy Steam™ does all the work for you.

It’s so easy to use, that you’ll be searching your house for things to steam. That new dress you ordered online? Yes. The kid’s Halloween costume? Sure. Table linens for Thanksgiving? Go ahead.

CHI® EasySteam

Simply hang the Easy Steam™ from a convenient spot anywhere in your house, like the closet door or the bathroom shower rod. Fill-up the water reservoir, put your clothing on the hook and zip up the bag.

Press the button and let the magic happen.

CHI® EasySteam

Most garments take about two minutes or less to steam. That’s two more minutes to finish doing your hair, check your messages or start your coffee.

Another thing to love about the Easy Steam™ is it collapses down, so you can keep it out of sight when you’re not using it. And, you can tote it along to formal occasions where a steamer can smooth out wrinkle-induced panics, like weddings, graduations and dance recitals.

CHI EasySteam

Don’t miss this de-wrinkling game changer when it hits stores in October.  Sign up now to be notified as soon as it’s available.

It’s time to start putting away the beach towels and bathing suits and begin getting the family school-ready with new gear. Before you load up your label maker, try a different approach to this necessary step in back-to-school prep — homemade tags. They’re easier to make than you think, and no permanent markers are required.

CHI Iron-On Backpack Tags

Iron-on tags are a fun way to upgrade your labels for book bags, lunch totes and more. Your little one will know exactly which bag has her favorite sandwich in it, and you’ll instantly earn bonus points with the new teacher.

CHI Iron-On Backpack Tags

You’ll just need a few supplies to get started:

  • Fabric tags – make sure they’re iron-safe
  • Transfer paper
  • Printer
  • Scissors
  • CHI iron

CHI Iron-On Backpack Tags

We used Cricut Design Space to create the text for our labels, and ordered our supplies online, but you could also use your own software and find the supplies you need at your nearest craft store.

Before you print your design – make sure your image is setup to print in mirror mode or that the image is flipped.  Then, following your transfer paper directions, print your design and cut it to size.

Now, it’s time to iron. Turn the heat up and the steam off on your CHI iron. Use the specifics from your transfer paper for heat settings and timing. Once the temperature is right, place the iron-on onto your tag, and apply pressure as you set the iron down on top.

CHI Iron-On Backpack Tags

Pay attention to your timing, once you’ve reached the designated time, immediately remove the iron and let things cool. When the tag is cool to the touch, slowly peel back the transfer paper and admire your tag-making skills.

Vertical Steaming Dress Back to School

Don’t put your CHI iron away just yet – this powerful iron is perfect for starting the first day of school in clean, crisp style.  Press off your son’s new button-up fast with the titanium-infused ceramic soleplate, or give your daughter’s new floral frock a quick vertical steam blast to smooth out wrinkles.

From DIY tags to a polished, pressed look, the CHI iron is a must-have for busy families. Make sure you add it to your supply list for this school year!

Totes Yours: DIY Tags for Summer Beach Bags

Totes Yours: DIY Tags for Summer Beach Bags

Poolside or beachside, you’ll make waves this summer wherever you go in your latest suit and shades – and of course, your beach tote. This essential accessory is the carry-all for all things that matter: towels, sunscreen, beach reads, and snacks. So claim your goods in style by making customized tags for your bags and more.

Iron-On Beach Bag Tags

Iron-on tags are the way to go for a label that says “mine” in more ways than one.  Keep it classic with your initials in a pretty script, or let your nickname shine with bright, bold letters. We used Cricut Design Space to create the text for our labels, but you could use your own software or see what your local craft store has to offer.

Iron-On Beach Bag Tags

When it comes to the tag, go basic like we did with sturdy, yet beachy, canvas. Or choose a color or print that matches your bag … or your mood. Got sewing skills? Make your own tags in whatever shape and size you want.

Once you’ve picked out your tags and text, print your wording onto transfer paper, which you can pickup at craft stores, office supply stores, or online. Follow the package directions to print your design. It’s very important you print a mirror image of your design. You can do this within your printer or software settings – just remember to do it!

Once your sheets are printed and cut to size, it’s time to iron. Directions vary by the type of transfer paper you purchase, but make sure you’ve turned the heat on and the steam off on your CHI iron.

Once the iron is set to temperature, place the custom iron-on onto your fabric, and apply pressure as you set the iron down on top. As soon as you’ve pressed the iron-on for the time indicated on the packaging, remove the iron and let everything cool off.  When it’s cool to the touch, peel back the transfer paper and voila – a tag for your best tote!

Iron-On Beach Bag Tags

Tagging your gear doesn’t have to stop with these tie-on labels. Keep yours and the little ones’ towels out of the lost and found (or someone else’s bag) by ironing your name or initials onto them. Follow the same process for the tags, ironing the letters directly onto the inside of your towel.

Iron-On Beach Bag Tags

We stuck to just ironing on names, but that doesn’t mean a cute graphic should be out of the question. Keep the beachy vibes going with a seashell, sailboat or anchor. When you’re ready to hit the water, pack up your bag with your favorite CHI products to add texture to your beach-made waves, or hold your locks in place in the wind. And don’t forget your sunscreen!

Something New: DIY Bridal Party Robes

Something New: DIY Bridal Party Robes

It’s that time of year again – wedding season! More and more couples are adding fun DIY touches to their ceremonies and receptions. From custom cocktails, to homemade banners, to crafted centerpieces, couples are taking the opportunity to put a personalized stamp on their big day.

DIY Bridal Party Robes

These iron-on bridal party robes are a perfect way to add a special touch to the bridal suite. Whether the bride wants to gift these robes to her bridesmaids as a thank you or the crafty one in the group volunteers to make them for the entire bridal party, they’re a great excuse to get a craft night in before the big day.

DIY Bridal Party Robes

We ordered these bright pink robes online, but you could match the wedding colors or choose a different color for the bride. We wrote “bride” on one, “MOH” (maid of honor) on another, and “bridesmaid” on the remaining robes, but you could do full names, initials, or something cute like “bride tribe” or “team bride” – get creative with it!

DIY Bridal Party Robes

Before you sit down and prepare for your pre-wedding crafting, make sure you have the following – a printer, transfer paper, scissors, and your CHI iron.

DIY Bridal Party Robes

We used Cricut Design Space to create the text for the robes, but you could use InDesign or Illustrator, or call the craftsy bridesmaid and have her create the design for you. That’s what friends are for.

DIY Bridal Party Robes

Once you have your fonts and colors (in this case, the more sparkles the better), print your design onto transfer paper. You can purchase transfer paper at craft stores, office supply stores, or online.

DIY Bridal Party Robes

Print your design onto transfer paper using either an inkjet or laser printer (be sure to get the right paper for your printer). Remember to print a mirror image of your design. Your printer settings will have a mirror mode or you can flip the image in the design program – whichever you prefer.

DIY Bridal Party Robes

Once the transfer sheets are printed, plug in your CHI® iron. Make sure you follow the iron-on directions found on your transfer paper pack or individual sheets – they will vary by brand.

DIY Bridal Party Robes

Apply pressure and hold the iron on top of the letters for the specified time. When it’s cool to touch, carefully peel back the transfer paper and try on your customized robe.

Brides and bridesmaids alike will love getting ready (and snapping pictures) in these customized robes. Not only are they perfect for getting hair (make sure the suite is equipped with your favorite CHI® flat irons, curling irons, and product) and makeup done before the wedding, they’re the perfect wedding day keepsake for the bridal party.

Vertical Steaming with CHI Iron

While CHI® irons are the perfect tool to help with wedding crafts, we’ve got good news – they can also help polish off your day-of looks. Use the iron to vertically steam any wrinkles there may be in the bridesmaid dresses or wedding gown. Simply let the iron heat and press the steam button while holding the iron close to the wrinkled area. The wrinkles will disappear in no time – thanks to the hundreds of steam holes on each CHi® iron.

Vertical Steaming with CHI Iron

Whether you are using your iron to de-wrinkle dresses, or your flat iron to put the finishing touches on your hair, you’re sure to look picture perfect from head to toe throughout wedding season.

DIY Iron-On Shoe Bags

DIY Iron-On Shoe Bags

Spring is always a busy time of year. Whether you are planning summer vacation with the family, road-tripping a few states away for a friend’s wedding, or traveling for work, your calendar is probably filling up – and filling up fast.

DIY Iron-On Shoe Bags

With traveling comes packing. You might avoid it completely or pretend your suitcase is Mary Poppins’ magic bag – either way, packing for a trip (long or short) is always a challenge.

DIY Iron-On Shoe Bags

One way to ease the pain of packing is to keep things neat and organized. These DIY iron-on shoe bags can help keep your favorite shoes in one place while keeping those cute new vacation dresses separate (and clean!).

DIY Iron-On Shoe Bags

They couldn’t be easier to make. You just need a few supplies:

  • Shoe bags
  • Transfer paper
  • Printer
  • Scissors
  • CHI iron

We purchased these basic canvas shoe bags online, but you can get them in a variety of colors and patterns, depending on your travel style. We used Cricut Design Space to create the designs for our shoe bags, but you could use another program like InDesign or Illustrator – or you could enlist a tech-savvy/artsy friend to create the design for you. Even better.

DIY Iron-On Shoe Bags

Once you have your fonts, colors, and/or graphics set in stone, print your design onto transfer paper. You can purchase transfer paper at craft stores, office supply stores, or online.

Print your design onto transfer paper using either an inkjet or laser printer (be sure to check your  transfer paper directions). It is very important you print a mirror image of your design. Your printer will have a mirror mode or you can flip the image in the design program – either way will work.

Once your sheets are printed, it’s time to iron. Directions vary by the type of transfer paper you purchase, so make sure you are following the directions that can be found on both the packaging and the individual sheets.

Apply pressure and hold the iron on top of the letters. Once you have ironed your letters on for the specified time (the time will vary by paper and material), let the iron on cool. Once the iron on is cool to touch, peel back the transfer paper and ta-da! – a cute new shoe bag to use for your next getaway.

DIY Iron-On Shoe Bags

We loved the simplicity of text on our shoe bags, but you could add a photo (like we did with the bright pink pump), or even a few words like “the perfect pair.” The sky’s the limit.

DIY Iron-On Shoe Bags

A few shoe bags fit perfectly into a carry-on, along with enough clothes for the week, and the trusty CHI Essentials Travel Set. With your clothes, shoes, and flat iron all (neatly) packed, you’re ready to take on the spring’s social calendar. Safe travels!

From Hair to Wear: Introducing CHI® Steam

From Hair to Wear: Introducing CHI® Steam

Meet the latest innovation from CHI® – a line of high-performance irons and steamers that bring the power of the pros to your home, just like our hair care tools.

CHI Professional Clothing Iron

The line launches this spring with two powerful irons: the Professional Clothing Iron and Electronic Clothing Iron. Both irons feature the same titanium-infused ceramic soleplate as our popular G2 flat iron. This soleplate heats up quickly and provides an extra-smooth glide, so you can easily iron everything from a silky LBD to your favorite fall flannel.

Good news – there’s no previous ironing experience required with the Professional Clothing Iron. With a temperature dial that includes a fabric guide, adjustable steam control and a comfortable handle, ironing is easier than ever. Your co-workers may think your wardrobe is professionally pressed, but little do they know it only took you a few minutes to get that polished ready-to-wear look.

CHI® Professional Clothing Iron

Prefer digital over dials? The Electronic Clothing Iron is right for you. The temperature control illuminates your chosen setting, so there’s no question if you have the right heat for the fabric you’re ironing. The sleek, modern look continues with a swivel out lid for easy water filling and a retractable cord.

CHI® Electronic Clothing Iron

There’s one more thing these two irons have and that’s the power of steam. The Professional Iron has over 300 steam holes, and the Electronic iron has over 400. This means you get powerful, even steam that makes those wrinkly clothes you’ve left hanging in the closet wearable once again.

CHI® Professional Clothing Iron

These two irons are just the beginning of CHI® Steam. Be sure to stay tuned for more product launches, ironing tips, and DIY’s on the blog.
