Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. Does anyone else feel like they’re in a constant race against the clock? Between text threads with family about plans, adding some fall flavor to the house, and menu planning, to-do lists are longer than ever.
The holidays can definitely be stressful, but don’t forget to set aside a little time for yourself while you mentally prepare for a few months of feasts and festivities. Plan a craft night with the family or a wine night with your favorite ladies and make these DIY Thanksgiving placemats. Not only will it give you a little time to breathe amongst the holiday hustle and bustle, you’ll add a cute, customized touch to your Turkey Day decor.
We liked these orange placemats for our table, but any fall color – like maroon, brown, or mustard – would work well. We used Cricut Design Space to create the text for the placements, but you could also use a program like InDesign or Illustrator.
The sky’s the limit when it comes to creating your iron-ons. Turkey graphics, fall foliage, or messages of thanks – they’re all fair game (get it?) when it comes to your Thanksgiving table.
Once the iron is set to temperature, place the custom iron-on onto your placemat, and apply pressure as you set the iron down on top. As soon as you’ve pressed the iron-on for the time indicated on the packaging, remove the iron and let it cool. When the iron-on is cool to the touch, peel back the transfer paper.
With the custom placemats finished, and the bird in the oven, all that’s left is the last minute touch-ups. Run your CHI® flat iron through your hair one more time, set the table, and wait for the doorbell to ring.
